Book Review – “Lincoln In The World”

As a student of Civil War history I have read a LOT about Lincoln. I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review and it is definitely one that I’m glad to be able to add to my bookshelf. There aren’t many books about Lincoln and his foreign policies, but Kevin Peraino does a good job of bringing the history alive without making it boring.

There is a lot of information in this book, with almost one hundred pages of source notes and selected biographies to back it all up. There were a couple of times that I had to go back and re-read a section to make sure that I understood the point that the author was trying to make. There is a lot here to digest all at once! There are only six chapters, but each one is about 50 pages and is packed FULL of information.

If you love history and especially love to read about the Civil War then I would definitely recommend this book. It might take a little while to get through, but in the end it’s definitely worth it!
