A little over a week ago, Jay and I had to go do some pre-marriage counseling. We had taken the compatibility test and aced it! *cyberspace fist bump* I honestly am not exaggerating when I say that we aced it. There were five parts, I believe, three of which we had 100% matching and the other two were an 83 and 87. The couple who was counseling us said that they hadn’t ever had anybody do as well on this test as we did. 🙂
As we were getting ready to leave this painting, “The Annunciation” by Henry Ossawa Tanner was pointed out to us. We had the chance to study it for a minute and then we had to leave. I have to admit that this painting has been on my mind ever since. If you’ve never seen this painting let me tell you what it’s showing us. It’s the angel coming to Mary to inform her that she has been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. You really can’t tell it in this picture, but Mr. Tanner did a wonderful job of painting a world of emotions on Mary’s face. As she’s sitting there in her humble home, being told of the enormous task she is being trusted with, you can tell that she’s wondering, “Why me?? Are you sure that you want to trust me with this duty? I’m scared as snot about what you’re telling me! Am I really seeing an angel??” It’s one of those pictures that you can stand and look at for 15 to 20 minutes and still feel pulled to it. If you ever get a chance to see it in person, definitely take the opportunity to do so.
I apologize for not posting very often over the last couple of weeks. I promise to do my best, but things are pretty hectic right now! We are less than five weeks away from the wedding and we’re still sorting out details. Plus I’m trying to ready my house to put it up on the market. I’ll post more about that later this week. Please try to be patient with me. I will be back to posting more often in a month or so. Thanks!
