Warthog Project 11-20-11

Hello from Air Base Hotpants. Today we are checking up on the progress that has been made on the Warthog. As we walk into the hangar we can see that there has been some progress made, but not a lot. We’ll talk with General McHottie who has generously offered to answer our questions.

Me: General, can you tell us what we are looking at?

General: Currently we have the Warthog suspended upside down so that we can work on the wings a little better. If you remember last week we had managed to get them all covered with the wood:

Me: Yes, I thought that it looked beautiful with the wood tone.

General: Well, miss, the Warthog is not in the business to be beautiful. It’s meant to be functional! In order to have the proper finish we must glass the entire thing. This week we have begun the glassing process. You can see the center section of the wing here:

General: You can see in this next picture how the glass is currently covering the area where the servo will go. This will be cut out to make room for the servo to run the landing gear:

Me: Well, General, that looks like you guys have really managed to get some things done. Was that all you were able to do this week?

General: This is not the Army, miss. We are able to get through more than your average army grunt. We are about results here. Do you remember the piece of the tail that you referred to as the ‘vertical thing’:

Me: Oh, yes! The vertical thing! I apologize, General, but I’m not very good with all of this airplane stuff.

General: Don’t worry your pretty little head about it. I realize that you civilians have other pressing things to worry about. Anyway, back to the ‘Hog’. We have glassed this part as well this week. I think that it turned out rather impressively, wouldn’t you say?

Me: Oh yes, General, it’s the most gorgeous shade of salmon! In fact, I think that you could almost call that pink hue a rose-colored hue.

General: Um.. sure. After those pieces were glassed we had an urgent mission handed to us. We did our duty and I’m proud to say that we created the most beautiful matching sets of landing gear that I’ve ever seen. It almost brings a tear to this General’s eye.

Me: Wow. Those ARE beautiful! So shiny!

General: Uh, yeah. Well, I think that I hear myself being paged. I hope I’ve answered all of your questions. Enjoy the rest of your day and please see yourself out of the hangar.

Well, folks, there you have it! Please tune in next week for the next installment of “The A-10 Warthog; Are those tumors on your back or are you just happy to see me?” 🙂
